Position: Assistant Violin Maker (Full-Time)

Job Summary:

Following on from the successful programs run this year internationally, we are announcing a unique opportunity this fall for candidates from the United Kingdom to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for someone who possesses strong technical skills, a keen willingness to develop their artistry, and readiness to participate in a variety of tasks—from sharpening tools to assisting in top level violin production. You'll work closely with our founder, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the overall operations of our workshop. Upon successful completion of a 3-month paid trial period, you will transition into a long-term violin-making role with opportunities for continued growth and professional development as a valued member of our Alf Studios team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the crafting and setup of violins, violas, and cellos.

  • Support workshop organization by maintaining a clean, safe, friendly, and efficient work environment.

  • Help with tool management, material supply, and workflow for high level instrument building.

  • Be enthusiastic for personal and professional development, for learning and growing, and for contributing to the daily workflow of a leading violin making studio.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Excellent violin making technical skills (including recent graduates or those with professional or apprenticeship experience).

  • Proficiency with hand tools and a passion for improving your skills in fine instrument making.

  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with the humility to take on basic tasks while maintaining mindfulness and an attention to detail in the completion of more intricate procedures.

  • Applicants must be based in the UK.
