Alf Studios Gregg T. Alf Concert Viola

This viola is made from a personal Amati model, inspired by the Estense Girolami Amati, using a one-piece back cut on the slab from strongly flamed maple. The curl is of broad irregular width and runs straight across the treble top. The ribs are of the same wood and the scroll is of similar wood. The two-piece top is of broad grain spruce and broadens toward the flanks. The viola is finished with an orange-brown varnish on a golden ground and has been lightly antiqued.
