This viola was crafted from a personal Amati model using a two-piece back cut on the quarter from strongly flamed maple. The curl is of medium width and ascends from the center seam. The scroll and ribs are of similar wood. The two-piece top is of fine grain red spruce which broadens slightly toward the flanks. The viola is finished with a dark red-brown varnish and has been antiqued.
